Hannover sporting director Jorg Schmadtke has revealed that his side are in negotiations over the signing of Mame Biram Diouf from Manchester United.
The Lower Saxony side have in recent days been linked with the Senegalese forward, who has scored seven goals in six appearances for his club's reserves this season.
"There have been discussions with his agent. We have shared our thoughts. I am now waiting for a response," Schmadke told Bild. "He is fast, robust, and direct."
Jim Solbakken, Diouf's agent, remained coy on the issue, stating: "I will not comment."
The 24-year-old, whom United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has openly admitted to be a candidate for a loan spell, has been linked with several other clubs in the past, including Wigan, Hoffenheim, and Nurnberg. Everton and Sunderland, meanwhile, have reportedly lost interest.
Hannover have an amicable relationship with Manchester United and have a precedent for signing reserves from the English giants, having acquired current goalkeeper Ron-Robert Zieler in 2009.
