The national team coach was very pleased following the 3-2 friendly win over Brazil, which showcased the depth of quality at his disposal as he builds for Euro 2012Germany national team coach Joachim Low has challenged his players to build on the progress they have made in recent years and secure some silverware.
Low was speaking after his side recorded a 3-2 friendly win over Brazil, in which Borussia Dortmund youngster Mario Gotze scored his first international goal, and Bastian Schweinsteiger and substitute Andre Schurrle also added their names to the scoresheet.
"The name of the game now is to work even more," he told ZDF after the game. "We had excellent showings in tournaments in both 2008 and 2010.
"We now have an excellent squad, which is full of quality. We need to take the next step and win a trophy. Personally, I am glad that I have so many options to choose from."
The manner of the performance pleased Low, who saw his team dominate the first period without being able to break the deadlock as Germany beat Brazil for the first time since 1993.
He added: "We began the game well, with a good tempo. We also combined very well in the second period. If you see the joy and desire, which the players have displayed, we were strong."
