DFB Pokal champions in no mood to lose Germany goalkeeper as boss issues orders to fight for his stay
The 25-year-old is expected to move to the Allianz Arena in the summer, with Bayern the front runners for his services in exchange for a €25 million fee.
However, there appears to be resistance from those who hold decision-making powers within the Royal Blue, and Tonnies explained the board will gather to discuss player futures, but he made clear on which side he was on.
"The decision is very important, so we will have a special meeting with our supervisory board. I'm strictly again the sale of Manuel Neuer. We would lose one of our top players," he told DPA.
"Manuel was our goalkeeper today. He still has a year left on his contract. Therefore I expect that he will play with us next season," said the coach.
But, while the board make a decision on the future of the shot-stopper, the goalkeeper himself has been left confused, telling the press: "I do not know where I will play next season. As I can tell, there has been no decision from the club."
