Beckenbauer tells Munich spending big money on Neuer is worth their while as he encourages them to land the talented goalkeeperBayern Munich not to be afraid to splash the cash for Schalke goalkeeper Manuel Neuer.
Bayern's honorary president said the club should be prepared to spend up to €50 million for the 25-year-old.
"This is a goalkeeper who saves 20 unstoppable shots a year. You must do everything to get him immediately. I would approve of any sum if I was still chairman of the board. You should even pay €50m for Neuer, if necessary," Beckenbauer told Bild.
Neuer's contract at Schalke runs until 2012, but he recently said: "It is my aim to move within Germany," hinting he was eager to join the Munich-based club.
Schalke might prefer to sell him in the summer, knowing they could lose him on a free transfer next year, which have led to reports claiming the club are seemingly open to broker a deal.
However, director Horst Heldt said they were in no rush to conclude a deal with Bayern.
"It is not a given that Neuer will leave in 2011," said Heldt.
