thumbnail Hello,

Turkish international midfielder is being plagued by a back problem and could be sidelined for the remainder of the 2010-11 season as he will have to go under the knife

German powerhouse Bayern Munich will probably have to make do without the services of experienced midfielder Hamit Altintop in the remainder of the season as the Turkey international will have to have an operation.

Altintop is being plagued by back problems and sporting director Christian Nerlinger has now revealed that the midfielder awaits surgery.

"It's true that Hamit [Altintop]  will have to go under the knife, but we haven't made a decision about when and where yet," Nerlinger was quoted as saying by TZ.

"The way things stand at the moment, it's very well possible that he won't return to match action this season."

The 28-year-old Altintop has an expiring contract at the Bavarians and is widely expected to leave the club on a Bosman move this summer.
