Borussia Dortmund Defender Marcel Schmelzer Agrees Contract Extension Until 2014 - Report

Marcel Schmelzer has reportedly reached an agreement with Borussia Dortmund over a new deal until 2014.
According to a report in Kicker, Bundesliga table toppers Borussia Dortmund have successfully concluded contract negotiations with highly rated full-back Marcel Schmelzer. The defender is expected to sign a new deal with Dortmund until 2014 in the coming days.

The report claims that Schmelzer and Dortmund have been in talks for quite a while and have now reached an agreement over a contract extension. His previous deal ran until the summer of 2012.

The left back hasn't signed his new deal yet due to Dortmund's busy schedule, but sporting director Michael Zorc has made it clear that it's a matter of time before Schmelzer inks his new deal.

Schmelzer is a product of the Borussia Dortmund youth academy and made his official debut in August 2008. The 23-year-old has since developed into an important first team player with the Dortmund side.

The Germany international had reportedly attracted the interest of clubs such as Milan, Juventus and Inter, but Schmelzer is unlikely to leave Borussia Dortmund any time soon following his contract renewal.
