According to a report in RCM, Bundesliga outfit Hoffenheim are closely monitoring flambouyant attacker Dieumerci Mbokani, currently under contract with Ligue 1 side Monaco.
The German side are in the market for a new attacker because of the imminent departure of Demba Ba to Premier League side Stoke City and sporting director Ernst Tanner supposedly sees the 25-year-old Mbokani as the perfect replacement.
Mbokani rose to prominence at TP Mazembe and also wore the jerseys of Anderlecht and Standard Liege before joining Monaco last summer. The DR Congo international has failed to make an impact at the Monegasques though and could therefore be on his way out again in January.
Monaco paid a fee in the region of €7 million for Mbokani last summer, but it seems unlikely that Hoffenheim are willing to make an offer anywhere close to that amount following the attacker's disappointing performances in the past six months.
Lengthy negotiations could thus be on the cards before an agreement is reached between both clubs.
