Lahm believes some players will have to step up in Schweinsteiger's absence...

Germany captain Philipp Lahm has expressed his anxiety at the absence of midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger for their upcoming Euro 2012 qualifiers but believes the squad is strong enough to cope without him.

The Bayern Munich star had to pull out of the squad because of injury and his club team-mate Lahm believes other players will have to step up in his absence.

"His absence will hurt but we have plenty of players who can come in and do a reliable job, as we saw at the World Cup," he said, according to bundesliga.de.

Germany will host Turkey on October 8 before travelling to Kazakhstan four days later.
