Stuttgart have completed the transfer of Mauro Camoranesi from Juventus.
By Stefan Coerts
Bundesliga outfit Stuttgart have completed the transfer of experienced winger Mauro Camoranesi from Serie A powerhouse Juventus. The Italy international has signed a one-year deal with his new club with the option for another season.
The Schwaben have been in disappointing form in the first weeks of the new season and currently sit last in the table. Additionally, they only just managed to qualify for the group stage of the Europa League.
Therefore, head coach Christian Gross was eager to add some fresh blood to his squad and the Swiss coach has now gotten his desired reinforcements.
The 33-year-old Camoranesi initially appeared to be on his way to Birmingham City, but the transfer eventually fell through due to financial reasons.
The right winger wore the jerseys of Santos Laguna, Santiago Wanderers, Banfield, Cruz Azul and Verona before joining Juventus in the summer of 2002. Camoranesi quickly became a key player at the Vecchia Signora, but was deemed surplus to requirements by new head coach Luigi Del Neri this summer. He will now be looking to relaunch his career in the Bundesliga.
