Middlesbrough Seeking Hamburg Midfielder Mickael Tavares - Report
The English side would like to secure the midfielder's services ahead of Saturday's match with Barnsley.
By Clark Whitney
English Championship side Middlesbrough are hoping to complete the signing of Hamburg midfielder Mickael Tavares before Saturday's trip to Barnsley, if a report from BBC is to be believed.
The Senegal international moved to Hamburg from Slavia Prague in January 2009, but struggled to make an impression. Last year, he was sent to Nuernberg on loan to gain match experience.
Tavares' future at Hamburg has been cast into serious doubt after boss Bastian Reinhardt allegedly told the 27-year old he had no future at the club.
In the wake of Reinhardt's comments, a move to England would appear beneficial to the player and both clubs involved.
