Bundesliga Sunday Round-up: Leverkusen Down Dortmund, Mainz Outclass Lowly Stuttgart

Mainz and Leverkusen started their respective campaigns with comfortable victories.
Mainz 2-0 Stuttgart

Stuttgart started well but were ultimately outplayed by Mainz. Inside 19 minutes the visitors had a gilt-edged chance on goal, but Cacau's penalty shot was saved after Cirprian Marica drew a foul from Nikolce Noveski. Shortly thereafter, Mainz hit top form. Lewis Holtby played a perfect through ball to Sami Allagui, who finished with aplomb to give the hosts a deserved lead.

Early in the second half, Morten Rasmussen doubled the Mainz's advantage and the hosts never looked back. Substitute Adam Szalai appeared bright in a brief runout and hit the post but could not find the net before the final whistle.

Dortmund 0-2 Leverkusen

First half goals from Tranquillo Barnetta and Eren Derdiyok put the visitors comfortably ahead and a disciplined Werkself defeated a rather lacklustre Dortmund side. Click here to read the full match report.
