The striker has suffered yet another setback...Bayer Leverkusen striker Patrick Helmes has sustained an injury that will keep him sidelined for the beginning of the Bundesliga season, and possibly next month's internationals.
During Leverkusen's 3-0 victory in a Europa League play-off with Tavrija Simferopol, Germany international suffered a minor calf tear. He is expected to miss between two and three weeks.
Helmes, 26, missed most of last season with a knee injury. He was in excellent form heading into the first week of the Bundesliga season, but will have to wait a few more weeks to begin his season. In Helmes' stead, Eren Derdiyok will partner Stefan Kiessling in attack. Leverkusen's season opener against Dortmund will kick off on Sunday at 17:30 CET.
