World record-holding sprinter Usain Bolt has undergone a medical examination with Bayern Munich's Dr. Hans-Wilhelm Mueller-Wolfahrt, according to the club's official website.

However, his signing for the Bavarians is not imminent!

Rather, the Olympic gold-medallist had his back examined by the renowned doctor, who advised him to end his competitive season prematurely. Bolt, 23, has suffered from recurring back injuries for some time.

"I'm very disappointed," the Jamaican sprinter told Bayern Munich's website. "But I trust that it is better for me not to take any more risks."

Bolt will now set his sights on the 2011 World Championships in Daegu, and the 2012 Olympics in London.

In closing, Bolt joked that if he worked on the technical areas of his game, he "may play for Bayern next season".
