Bayern Munich’s Breno Won’t Rush Comeback From Injury
Breno hopes to be back playing in late September...
By Robin Bairner
Young Bayern Munich centre-back Breno won’t hurry himself back to action after a serious injury ended his 2009-10 campaign prematurely.
The former Sao Paulo player suffered a ruptured cruciate ligament while playing with Nuernberg on loan last term and wants to get back playing as quickly as possible, though he is aware of the importance of ensuring the problem has completely healed before taking to the pitch once again.
“Ideally I’d be back on the field tomorrow, but we have to be cautious,” he told FCB’s official website, suggesting that it could be a couple of months before he is available again.
“I’m in outstanding shape, and I’m feeling great.
“The club has done everything to secure me the best doctors and the best treatment. I’m training hard and will do everything I can to recover fitness as soon as possible.”
Considering his prospects of breaking into the German champions’ first team, the highly promising 20-year-old mused: “It’s up to me alone. I have to assert myself against the competition. I’ll be putting in a huge effort in training.”
Breno impressed greatly during his loan spell with Nuernburg and such form will certainly see him challenge for a spot in Louis van Gaal’s starting XI if it can be replicated regularly.
