Germany Chief Scout Urs Siegenthaler Will Not Join Hamburg
The association have made Siegenthaler choose between club and country just days before he was due to join HSV...

Siegenthaler had for some months been expected to take the role at HSV, but there was concern in the DFB, with whom he was to continue his job as chief scout, that there could be a conflict of interest. Given the choice between the national team and Hamburg, Siegenthaler chose the former, leaving Bernd Hoffmann, president of the club, reeling.
“I do not understand why Urs Siegenthaler was now forced to make a choice,” he told HSV’s official website. “His intention to play a role with HSV has been known since February and agreed with the responsible people at the DFB.”
Describing the issue as an “incomprehensible problem”, the president raged that the national team “continues to give dual functions”.
There was no malice directed towards Siegenthaler, who “stressed his loyalty to [Germany] coach Joachim Loew from the start”.
