Louis van Gaal rates the Bosnia and Herzegovina international very highly.

Bayern Munich are interested in signing Wolfsburg striker Edin Dzeko and are ready to offer two of their first team squad in part-exchange, if reports from Kicker are to be believed.

Last week, Bayern coach Louis van Gaal labelled Dzeko "a valuable striker", but the question remains: just how valuable is he? It is rumoured that Bayern are willing to offer Mario Gomez (purchased last summer for €30-35 million) and Anatoliy Tymoshchuk (transfered last summer for an alleged €14-15m) in their package.

Wolfsburg previously had a €40m price tag on their star striker, warding off interest from Milan, Juventus and Manchester City by declaring him off the market. Money is evidently not an issue for the club, and they would rue selling their most prized asset to their rivals. However, with Dzeko less than satisfied with his current contract, the 2008-09 Bundesliga champions may prefer a player swap.

Dzeko, 24, has scored 65 goals in 87 matches over the last two years.
