Gerald Asamoah Could Miss St Pauli Bundesliga Opener
The newly signed forward has injured his thigh.

Newly-promoted Bundesliga side St. Pauli are sweating over the fitness of new signing Gerald Asamoah. The 31-year-old, who was brought in this summer following an 11-year stint at Schalke, has suffered a partial tendon tear in his thigh.
"I look forward and will do everything to return to the pitch soon," said Asamoah, who opted to forego an operation.
His injury comes at a crucial time in St Pauli's pre-season, when the team is finally tuning the finer aspects of their game. After taking a 50 per cent cut in his salary to join St. Pauli and end his career with first team playing time, Asamoah is now left ruing his luck. The ex-Germany international is expected to miss several weeks, and is doubtful for his team's Bundesliga opener in late August.
