Bundesliga outfit Mainz have completed the transfer of young attacker Adam Szalai from Real Madrid for an undisclosed fee. The 22-year-old attacker has signed a contract until the summer of 2013 with Mainz.
Szalai joined Real Madrid from Stuttgart in the summer of 2007, but the young attacker never managed to break into the first team of the Blancos.
Madrid opted to farm Szalai out on loan to Mainz in January 2010 and the Hungarian attacker impressed the Bundesliga side's technical staff enough to make them sign him on a permanent move. The forward scored once in fifteen Bundesliga appearances last term.
"We're extremely happy that we've managed to sign Adam on a permanent move. We're convinced that he has the potential to become a great player and we're hopeful that he will make the next step in his career here," said manager Christian Heidel on the official Mainz website.
The Hungary international is currently recovering from injury, but will return to regular squad training in the upcoming days.
