Lucas Barrios, Borussia Dortmund’s goal scoring machine, has revealed just how keyed up for the concluding games of the Bundesliga season he is, desperate to help his side leap into the top three at the very least.
With just two matches of the campaign remaining, BVB sit fifth in the table, though they are only one point shy of the podium. All three of the sides contending for the final spot amongst Europe’s elite have at least one tricky game left, with Dortmund’s coming on Saturday against Wolfsburg. Barrios is intent on picking up three points though.
“We are happy with what we have achieved so far,” he told Kicker. “But in the last two games we want even more - we have a craving for it.”
Coach Juergen Klopp doesn’t want to get too carried away, urging his side to pick up a victory before worrying about others. “We can pick up the first three of six possible points,” he said to his side’s official website, referring to Saturday’s game. “If we succeed in doing that, then we can look at what the others have done.”
It’s been six seasons since Dortmund, European champions in 1997, last finished in the top three of the Bundesliga.
