Schalke Can Reach The DFB Pokal Final - Benedikt Hoewedes
The Schalke defender is confident his side can reach the DFB Pokal final...
By Stefan Coerts
Gelsenkirchen side Schalke 04 were held to a 2-2 draw by Hamburger SV in last weekend's Bundesliga games and the Konigsblauen have yet another difficult game coming up, as Bayern Munich await in Wednesday's DFB Pokal semi-final clash.
"In view of all the chances we created we could have won against HSV. Nevertheless it was still a good performance. All in all we gained a point on our rivals and consolidated our position at the top end of the table," said defender Benedikt Hoewedes on the official Schalke website.
"We all know Bayern Munich are a quality side, but we've no reason to fear them. We're determined to get to the DFB Pokal final in Berlin and with the backing of our fans that's what we'll be fighting for.
"We have some season-defining matches ahead of us, but we're still taking each one as it comes. That's served us well so far. Obviously we also want to win the league game against Bayern."
