Bayern Munich Midfielder Mark Van Bommel Signs Contract Extension

Van Bommel joined the Bavarians from Barcelona in the summer of 2006 and has since developed into an important first team player at Bayern. The 32-year-old has so far made 103 Bundesliga appearances, scoring 11 goals.
"I always wanted to stay at the club for at least one more season and I'm very happy with the new contract. I'm looking forward to being successful with Bayern and winning silverware," said van Bommel on the club's official website.
Bayern president Karl-Heinz Rummenigge also expressed his delight with van Bommel's contract extension and reckons the Dutch midfielder has been very important for the club.
"We are extremely satisfied that Mark has signed a new deal. We have some important weeks coming up. He has been an integral first team member and is an excellent captain."
