thumbnail Hello,

Kuranyi seems almost certain to play his football elsewhere next season. Coach Magath has spoken of the situation with an air of resignation...

Amid rumours that Serie A giants Juventus are poised to sign Schalke striker Kevin Kuranyi at the end of the season, Felix Magath appears to be giving up hope of keeping the striker at the Veltins-Arena.

Kuranyi has previously been labelled a somewhat complicated character, but his form has been electric for the Gelsenkirchen side, scoring 11 goals in 24 matches this season.

Such form attracted numerous covetous glances from the Premier League in the January transfer window, with Chelsea and Sunderland reputedly interested in the striker, though Juventus are the side now considered to be leading the charge for his services.

With the forward out of contract at the end of the campaign, attempts from Schalke to get the ace to sign a new deal appear to have failed, and it seems the 28-year-old will be playing at a new home next season.

Coach Magath seems rather downbeat about the whole situation, telling Bild: “We are currently unable to tie Kevin to us.”

Adding fuel to the fire is the fact that Mohamadou Idrissou is supposedly being watched by Schalke, who are readying a summer move for the Cameroonian.
