Portuguese table toppers Benfica are considering making a move for Hertha Berlin midfielder Patrick Ebert during the summer transfer window, if a report in Record is to be believed.

Benfica coach Jorge Jesus is reportedly a keen admirer of the 22-year-old. Ebert particularly impressed during the two-legged Europa League tie between Benfica and Hertha.

Ebert is a product of the Hertha youth academy and has made over 80 Bundesliga appearances for the Berlin side since making his debut in 2006-07.

Hertha have reportedly set a €4 million asking price for Ebert, who has a contract until the summer of 2011 at the Alte Dame. However, Benfica are hopeful that Hertha will lower their demands if they fail to retain their Bundesliga status.

The Berlin side are battling against relegation this term and sit rock bottom in the Bundesliga table.
