Hamburger SV Star Marcell Jansen Sustains Ankle Injury
The versatile midfielder will be out of action for a while...
Versatile midfielder Marcell Jansen helped his side to a two-goal lead after 36 minutes of play, but the German international was forced to leave the pitch in the dying seconds of the game due to injury.
The 24-year-old had picked up an ankle injury and was unable to continue. Jansen visited the hospital on Monday to undergo further examination and an MRI scan indicated that he has damaged an ankle joint.
The injury means that the former Bayern Munich star will be out of action for about three weeks, according to a report in Kicker.
HSV's next match will be the home game against Freiburg on January 16 and Jansen is expected to be match fit in time for the first game after the winter break.
