Japanese midfielder Shinji Ono will probably leave the Bundesliga in the near future. The technically gifted playmaker is on his way to Shimizu S-Pulse, according to a report in Nikkan Sports.

The 30-year-old has been plagued by injury ever since he left Urawa Red Diamonds for the Revierclub in January 2008 and has mainly been warming the bench this term.

Bochum coach Heiko Herrlich recently deemed Ono surplus to requirements and the former Feyenoord star is reportedly ready to return to Japan in an attempt to re-launch his career.

The Bundesliga side refused to comment on the rumours, but an agreement between the two sides is expected to be reached before the opening of the transfer window on January 1.
