Several reports from England suggested that Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich were interested on signing Liverpool attacker Ryan Babel on a six-month loan deal, but FCB's director of sport, Christian Nerlinger, has downplayed such rumours.

"I can assure you that we're not interested in bringing Babel to Munich. I know nothing about such a transfer and that means that nothing is going on," said Nerlinger to Liga Total.

"This has nothing to do with Babel's qualities, but we have plenty of options in his position. Both Ivica Olic and Mario Gomez are in superb form and we don't need another attacker."

Babel is struggling to get regular first team action at Liverpool and recently expressed his desire to leave Anfield Road in the upcoming winter transfer window.

The Dutch international has also been linked with a return to Amsterdam giants Ajax.
