Bayer Leverkusen Join Race For Fluminense's Maicon - Report

The Brazilian attacker could be set for a European adventure. Several clubs are courting him, with suitors in Germany, Italy and England...

Maicon - Fluminense
According to a report in Italian publication Corriere dello Sport, Bundesliga table toppers Bayer Leverkusen have joined the race to secure the services of Brazilian youngster Maicon.

The promising attacker was one of the surprises of the FIFA Under-20 World Championship earlier this year and attracted the interest of several European clubs with his performances in Egypt.

Clubs such as Palermo, Cagliari and even Manchester United are all believed to be keeping tabs on Maicon, and Leverkusen have now apparently added their name to his list of admirers.

The Werkself are eager to add some more depth to their squad up front, thus anticipating the departure of Greek hitman Theofanis Gekas.

His current contract at Fluminense is due to expire in the summer of 2012.
