According to a report in DN Desporto, Bundesliga titleholders Wolfsburg are closely monitoring the situation of Uruguayan international Maxi Pereira, who currently turns out for Benfica.

The Wolfe are eager to add some more depth to their squad in the winter transfer window and head coach Armin Veh reportedly sees the versatile Pereira as the perfect candidate to strengthen his squad.

The 25-year-old full-back started his professional career at Defensor and joined Os Gloriosos  in the summer of 2007. Pereira has developed into a first team regular this term and his strong performances have clearly made Die Wolfe take note.

His current contract at Benfica expires in 2012, meaning that the Lisbon side won't let go of the right footed defender on the cheap. They've reportedly set a €6 million asking price for Pereira.
