Schalke’s Lukas Schmitz: Hannover Have Extra Motivation After Robert Enke’s Passing
Schmitz has confessed that this weekend's match will be rather unique, but he has indicated that his side can afford to show no compassion once the first whistle blows...
"We always prepare according to who we are playing and this time it's no different. But obviously the manager has been making allowance for the special situation that Hannover find themselves in," midfielder Lukas Schmitz told Schalke's official website.
"The players have spoken a lot about Enke's tragic death, especially the players who had a relationship with him through the national team. I don't think it'll be a problem though.
"For Hannover the desire to pay tribute to their former goalkeeper will obviously give them added motivation. But we're motivated as well. I'll try to perform just as I would on any other day. We have nothing to give away."
