The German national side may have to do without captain Michael Ballack when they tackle Ivory Coast on Wednesday.

The Chelsea midfielder has muscular trouble and could be forced to watch the match from the stands. Ballack missed Monday's training session due to the injury.

Goal.com Germany reports that Ballack is currently undergoing treatment at the Nationalelf's hotel. There does remain hope he can feature.

Wednesday's friendly promises to be an emotional game for the Germans. The match against Ivory Coast is their first game since the tragic death of shot-stopper Robert Enke last week.
