Bundesliga side Hamburg have received some disturbing news from the treatment table in the aftermath of their 2-2 league draw against Hannover last weekend.

Experienced midfielder Ze Roberto picked up an injury during his side's disappointing performance. Though the Brazilian veteran was able to complete the match, he faces a spell on the sidelines.

The former Bayern Munich star underwent further examination on Monday and will spend the next ten days on crutches after being diagnosed with torn ankle ligaments, a statement on the club's official website reads.

The Brazilian has become an important first team player at HSV in the early stages of the season, but he's not likely to return to action for several weeks - possibly not even until the New Year.

Ze Roberto has scored five league goals in 12 appearances for the Rothosen so far. In addition, he has set up four more.
