Player Ratings: Bayern Munich 1-1 Schalke

A dull encounter at the Allianz Arena ended in a score draw that does neither side any favours. Goal.com rates the players on display...

BAYERN MUNICH

Hans-Jorg Butt: 6 -  Was the less busy of the two keepers and should have done better for Schalke's equaliser when he was caught out of position.

Holger Badstuber: 6.5 -
In the thick of things from the start and battled with Farfan during his 64 minutes on the pitch. Could have given his side the lead in the 15th minute but was denied by the Peruvian when he was bearing down on goal.

Martin Demichelis: 6 -
A quiet game where he was outshone by his Belgian defensive team-mate.

Daniel Van Buyten: 7.5 - Decent performance by the defender who was eager to get forward throughout the match. Had an easy tap in to put his side in the lead and stayed game throughout.

Philipp Lahm: 6.5 - Fired in some quality crosses during the match but more often than not there was nobody there to meet them.

Thomas Muller: 7 -
A solid display throughout by the 20-year-old. He looks comfortable at this level and showed why he is on Joachim Low's list of maybes for South Africa 2010.

Mark van Bommel: 6 - Not one of his better days in a Bayern shirt. Was seen in discussion with his coach in the first half but whatever LVG said it didn't have the desired effect.

Anatoliy Tymoshchuk: 7 - Almost grabbed a late winner when he was bearing down on goal only to blast it wide. Busy throughout and wanted to be on the ball.

Bastian Schweinsteiger: 7 - Delivered some good quality free kicks and showed plenty of menace in what was an average team display.

Luca Toni: 5 -
Looked rusty up front and was unable to make his presence felt in the first half. It wasn't a surprise that he didn't appear for the second.

Miroslav Klose: 6.5 -
Had his chances during the game but failed to convert any of them. Replaced by Gomez for the final 15 minutes

Substitutes

Arjen Robben: 8 - Only on the field for 45 minutes but he showed more in that time than the rest of his side combined. Always a threat, he bombed forward and was involved in all of his side's best play in the second half.

Hamit Altintop: 5.5 - Was given half an hour but failed to make much of an impression.

Mario Gomez: 5.5 - On for the final 15 minutes but was never a threat.

SCHALKE

Manuel Neuer: 7.5 - Made several quality saves throughout the game as he repelled the Bayern offensive. Suffered bad luck for the goal his side conceded but perhaps could have made his presence felt to deny the opportunity.

Heiko Westermann: 6.5 - Deployed at centre-half he looked composed in Felix Magath's well organised side.

Marcelo Jose Bordon: 6.5 - Made a vital intervention to deny Van Buyten just after his side scored.

Joel Matip: 7.5 -
For a young man making his debut he looked at home in the centre of the park. Capped a fine display with a goal when he rose best to meet Schmitz's inviting ball.

Benedikt Howedes: 6.5 - Signalled his intent by colliding with Klose early on and gave a solid performance throughout.

Lukas Schmitz: 7 -
Got involved in an altercation with Robben shortly after half-time. Stood up to the Dutchman and gave a decent display with the highlight his dead ball delivery which led to the equaliser.

Christoph Moritz: 6 - Good distribution when he was on the ball.

Rafinha: 6 - Replaced in the 70th minute after a busy display at the Allianz.

Vicente Sanchez: 7 - Gave away the silly free kick which led to Bayern's goal. Aside from that error, he created some chances for his strike partners and dropped back when his side were dealing with the Bayern onslaught.

Kevin Kuranyi: 6.5 - Has his critics but he's good at what he does for Schalke. Could have done better with an early chance when he was one-on-one with Butt but was unable to convert the opportunity. Will be annoyed at himself for providing the assist which led to Bayern's goal.

Jefferson Agustin Farfan: 7.5 -
Was his side's stand-out performer in the first half. Had a battle with Badstuber throughout and made a crucial challenge on him to deny the Bayern man a goal in the 15th minute. Quiet in the second half.

Substitutes

Carlos Zambrano: 6 - Came on for the second half and had to battle along with the rest of his side to deny the hosts a winner.

Vasileios Pliatsikas: 5.5 - Was given 35 minutes to make an impact but struggled to do so as his side hung on.

Mineiro: 6 - Had 20 minutes and put himself about to help Schalke claim a point.
