Ankle Injury For Werder Bremen Star Claudio Pizarro
A bruised ankle kept Pizarro out of the midweek win over Kaiserslautern and he may not be fit for the weekend's fixture against Nuremberg...
The former Chelsea attacker sustained the injury in his side's 4-1 win against Bochum last weekend. Pizarro managed to play the full 90 minutes on Sunday but complained about pain in his right ankle after the game.
The 31-year-old has undergone treatment in the past couple of days and was left out of the Werder squad for Wednesday's DFB Pokal game against Kaiserslautern, which ended 3-0 in their favour.
"It’s a bruise and compression in the ankle. He has problems walking normally. Nominating him for Wednesday's DFB Pokal game would not have made any sense," Bremen head coach Thomas Schaaf said to the club's official website.
It's not yet known whether the prolific hitman will be match fit in time for Saturday's away clash against Nuremberg.
