Heiko Westermann Eager For Schalke Improvement

Heiko Westermann - Schalke 04
Despite Schalke's status as one of the surprise packages of Bundesliga, versatile defender Heiko Westermann is sure that there's still space for improvement.

Talking of last weekend's 3-3 draw with Hamburg, he told his club's official website, "In some situations we simply weren't clever enough. We shouldn't be conceding three goals at home, especially as we had a man advantage for the final half hour. But we'll work hard to ensure it doesn't happen again.

"However, we have hardly any time because we're now focusing totally on the upcoming DFB Pokal clash against 1860 Munich. We have to win there because we're all determined to reach the final in Berlin. That is, after all, the game that makes the cup competition so special."

Westermann also took the time to point out some positives from the game against HSV.

"The fact that we came back from 2-0 down will obviously give us confidence," he noted. "And the atmosphere the fans created during the 90 minutes was sensational. I haven't experienced anything like it in a long time."
