Bundesliga Sunday Round-up: Gentner Unknowingly Saves Wolfsburg, Dortmund Down Bochum
Borussia Moenchengladbach may have lost to Wolfsburg, but the Prussians from Dortmund earned a victory over Bochum.
Wolfsburg 2-1 Borussia Moenchengladbach
Wolfsburg got the better opportunities in an end-to-end opening half. Edin Dzeko hit the woodwork twice before Alexander Madlung headed in a corner just before the break.
In the second half Wolfsburg went into containment mode, and had great success. With seconds to go, Dzeko set up Christian Gentner for what would prove to be a vital second goal. Just after the restart, Michael Bradley pulled one back for M'gladbach, but it was too little, too late for the visitors.
Borussia Dortmund 2-0 VfL Bochum
Dortmund were too much for Bochum to handle on the day. Argentine hitman Lucas Barrios continued to show signs of his resurgent form, putting his side ahead after 20 minutes.
Shortly after the break, Neven Subotic nodded in a second following a Dede free kick. After the second goal, Bochum showed no signs of life until Diego Klimowicz hit the post in the 81st minute. His attempt was an anomaly and did little to help Bochum's cause, and the match ended 2-0 in favor of the home team.
