Arsenal Join Race For Bayer Leverkusen's Stefan Kiessling - Report
The Gunners have Kiessling in their sights, but the player's agent has dropped a hint that the German wishes to spend another season in his home country...
According to a report in English newspaper The Sun, Premier League giants Arsenal have joined the race for Bayer Leverkusen attacker Stefan Kiessling.
The 25-year-old forward has been in impressive form this term, scoring six goals in eight league appearances. This hasn't gone unnoticed in the rest of Europe. Milan, Juventus and Bayern Munich are reportedly all keeping tabs on the German international.
However, Ali Bulut, Kiessling's agent, claims that Arsenal are sitting in pole position to secure the services of the hitman.
"Stefan is becoming a big player and things are working for him at the moment," Bulut told The Sun. "He is a very similar player to Rudi Voeller with a bit of Oliver Bierhoff.
"Big clubs have kept looking at him since his days at Nuremberg. Six or seven big clubs have been in contact, including England and Spain's top clubs, plus Bayern Munich.
"For four years Arsenal tried to loan Kiessling from Nuremberg, but it wasn't possible. In the future it might be possible. I think it is likely he will spend another year in Germany, but he wants to move to a big club, and after that I don't know."
The striker's current contract at the Werkself is due to expire in the summer of 2012.
