The 23-year-old left Botafogo for an adventure in Germany last summer, but hasn't found his way into Ralf Rangnick's starting XI just yet. He has made seven league appearances so far, most of them coming off the bench.
"Botafogo president Mauricio Assumpcao has noticed that Maicosuel is not a regular in Hoffenheim's starting XI. He hopes that Maicosuel returns to Botafogo in case he doesn't make it in Germany," said Maicosuel's agent, Roberto Le.
However, it appears to be very much unlikely that the Sinsheim side will let go of the Brazilian midfielder in the near future.
Both manager Jan Schindelmeiser and coach Rangnick consider Maicosuel as an important first team member and are full of confidence that he will make an impact at Hoffenheim.
