Hertha After Schalke Midfielder Albert Streit - Report
The controversial midfielder is wanted by the Berlin side, but it is not certain that he will wish to depart Gelsenkirchen...
Streit, 29, is no longer needed at the Gelsenkirchen side, and Schalke are desperate to offload the midfielder in the upcoming winter transfer window. Despite being demoted to the reserves at the start of the season, he may not wish to leave.
He recently stated that he was more than happy to stay at Schalke until his contract expires. He is convinced that no other team will match his current wage.
Hertha recently fired head coach Lucien Favre and appointed Friedhelm Funkel as their new boss. The latter reportedly sees Streit as the perfect addition to his squad.
Funkel and Streit worked together from 2006-2008, when Funkel was in charge at Eintracht Frankfurt, where Streit was a key player.
