Schalke Chase Freiburg Star Mohammadou Idrissou - Report
The tall forward is a candidate to join Schalke next summer...
According to a report in Kicker, Bundesliga outfit Schalke are closely monitoring the situation of Cameroonian attacker Mohammadou Idrissou, who currently plays for Freiburg.
The Gelsenkirchen side could lose Kevin Kuranyi and Halil Altintop in the summer of 2010, as both players have an expiring contract and could therefore leave the club on a Bosman move. Head coach Felix Magath reportedly sees Idrissou as the perfect replacement.
The 29-year-old striker joined Freiburg from Duisburg in 2008 and helped them back to the Bundesliga last term by scoring 13 goals in 31 league appearances.
Idrissou's current deal is due to expire in the summer of 2010 and negotiations over a new contract have not been successful so far. His status makes him the perfect candidate for a cash strapped team such as Schalke.
