Schalke coach Felix Magath will most likely be without midfielder Jermaine Jones longer than initially expected as the 27-year-old has endured a recovery setback.
Jones underwent surgery for a shin injury back in June, but he is still toiling to regain fitness.
He was initially expected to return to match action in Schalke's Bundesliga opener, but Jones has yet to make his first official appearance of the 2009-10 campaign.
His ongoing struggle to return to full match fitness has now prompted Schalke's medical staff to consider yet another operation in order to solve Jones' injury trouble.
"Jermaine possibly needs to undergo surgery again. We will make a decision about that later this week," Felix Magath was quoted as saying by Bild.
