Champions League hopefuls VfB Stuttgart have completed the transfer of Serbian midfielder Zdravko Kuzmanovic from Serie A outfit Fiorentina for an undisclosed fee.

The Schwaben were in the market for a new midfielder due to the injury of Martin Lanig, who will be unavailable for a while. Kuzmanovic has signed a four-year deal with the German outfit and will wear the number 32 jersey.

Head coach Markus Babbel was delighted with the transfer and praised the 21-year-old for his various qualities.

"Zdravko Kuzmanovic is a modern midfielder. He reads the game exceptionally well and is a strong tackler. Despite his young age, he has an impressive amount of international experience and that will surely help him integrate quickly into our team," Babbel was quoted as saying on the official Stuttgart website.

Kuzmanovic also made it clear that he was quite happy with the move and the midfielder expressed his ambition to play an important role at the club.

"I'm delighted that the move to VfB Stuttgart worked out so shortly before the end of the transfer period. VfB are a club with a long tradition, fantastic surroundings and a success-hungry team. I want to play my part in helping achieve their goals," said Kuzmanovic.
