Bayern Chairman Rummenigge Ready To Take FIFPro To Court Over Ribery Support

The chief of the Bavarian outfit has lambasted FIFPro for instigating Ribery to break his contract.

Bayern Munich are not only at loggerheads with Real Madrid over the transfer of Franck Ribery, but it appears that they are now also entering a feud with FIFPro.

The worldwide organisation for professional football players came out and showed its support for the French winger earlier in the week when they revealed that they would back the player if he chose to force an exit from the Allianz Arena.

Bayern chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, who had already slammed such a proposal, has now threatened to take FIFPro to court in the event that Ribery decides to follow up on the advice.

“By releasing an official notice, FIFPro are inviting players to break their contracts, and this is simply madness,” he told TZ.

“What football needs now is stability and not players breaking their commitments. We will examine our legal possibilities and we will ask, if the time comes, for indemnification.

“Everything has a limit and with the stance FIFPro has taken, they have gone overboard.

“I know clearly what needs to be done. As the president of the European Club Association, I must say that FIFPro have exceeded their limits. We will give our response as these are things that we do not like.”

Rummenigge then went on to shield Ribery from the hoopla as he assured that the 26-year-old had not been causing any problems for the club, contrary to some reports.

“I must make one thing very clear. Franck is currently injured. He is not faking the injury nor is he a problematic player,” he clarified.

“We are against this [FIFPro] opinion, which is something that does not correspond to Ribery’s character. He is behaving in the correct manner. The fact that he is worried about the offer from Real Madrid is perfectly normal.

“The same thing happened with Franz Beckenbauer in 1966 when he received an offer from Inter. But we are calm, since we know that Ribery will remain with us. He is not forcing a departure.”
