Lukas Podolski Hits Out At Bayern Munich
Now that he officially a Koeln player, Poldi has blasted his former club, claiming they didn’t take him seriously…
German international striker Lukas Podolski has confessed to being glad Juergen Klinsmann was sacked as Bayern Munich trainer last April following a season where the 24-year-old was constantly overlooked.
Despite the fact that it was Klinsmann who gave Podolski his big break with the German national side, the trainer failed to show that faith while at Bayern Munich.
"Klinsmann never really took me seriously," Podolski told the Suddeutsche Zeitung newspaper.
"If anybody else was out of action, I suddenly became important and had my spirits lifted, but you need to feel this faith all the time.
"He said that it would be a process which would last one or two years before I could get past Luca Toni and Miroslav Klose. That was like a punch in the face to me."
His time on the sidelines at Bayern has now come to an end with his move back to Koeln.
"I can hardly wait to get on the field training," he said. "Cologne is simply the best place for my heart.
"This is my club and I want to go places with them. Maybe I will stay with Koeln until the end of my career. They are a fantastic club and everything is perfect."
