Steve McClaren On The Hamburg Shortlist - Report
With HSV beginning their search for a new trainer, an unlikely Englishman’s name is apparently on the shortlist at the HSH Nordbank Arena…
Following the shock resignation of Hamburg trainer Martin Jol earlier this week, the Rothosen are looking for a new man to take them into next season, and Twente boss Steve McClaren has emerged as an early frontrunner.
According to reports in Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf, McClaren is being given some consideration by Hamburg as a possible successor to Jol.The former England manager has rebuilt his somewhat damaged reputation in Holland with Twente, taking them to the runners-up spot in the Eredivisie in his first season.
He has also steered the Reds into the KNVB Cup final, which they lost on penalties to Heerenveen.
German candidates Mirko Slomka and Bruno Labbadia are also on the shortlist.
