Nevertheless, Kicker reports that Marin isn’t joining Hamburger SV this summer, but their arch rivals Werder Bremen instead. Neither of the clubs involved have YET confirmed the transfer.
Bremen are in the market for an attacking midfielder following the upcoming departure of Brazilian playmaker Diego to Juventus.
Marin has reportedly snubbed HSV for Bremen because of the disappointing performances of Martin Jol’s men in the crucial matches against Werder in the past couple of weeks. Bremen ended HSV’s title dream, UEFA Cup and DFB Pokal adventure.
The young German international’s Borussia Moenchengladbach contract was due to expire in 2010, but Marin made it clear on several occasions that he wanted to move to a bigger club in the upcoming transfer window.
Moenchengladbach receive €9 million for their star player according to the report and Marin will sign a four-year deal at the UEFA Cup finalists.
