Wolfsburg Defender Cristian Zaccardo Wants Serie A Return
He arrived with much fanfare alongside fellow World Cup winner Andrea Barzagli, but Cristian Zaccardo looks to be going out in a whimper…
Despite the fact that Wolfsburg are currently topping the Bundesliga and could be poised for a shock title triumph, centre-back Cristian Zaccardo it seems can’t wait to jump ship and return to his homeland.
The former Palermo star cost €8 million when signing for Felix Magath’s side in the summer along with fellow countryman Andrea Barzagli, but he has failed to impress and has fallen out of favour with the league leaders amassing just 11 appearances.
“I would love to return to Italy and especially to a big team,” Zaccardo told La Repubblica.
“I would have liked to have played here, but Felix Magath and I did not see eye to eye.
“It is like when you try to win over a woman. You try everything, but when it isn’t mirrored on the other side, then you’ve got no chance” the 27-year-old added.
High on his wish-list would be a move to Milan. “If it was up to me, I would go straight to Milan” he revealed.
