Zidan Handed Dortmund Number 10 Shirt
New Borussia Dortmund signing Mohamed Zidan has been handed the number 10 shirt by trainer Jürgen Klopp, who is looking to get the Egyptian’s Bundesliga career back on track.
Zidan joined Dortmund this week in swap deal which saw Croatian Mladen Petric go in the opposite direction to Hamburg and €4.8 million into BVB's coffers.
“I am 100% fit” Zidan said after completing his first training session with his new team mates.
Zidan has been handed the number 10 shirt so recently occupied by Petric and can’t wait to be given the chance to wear it on Saturday when Dortmund take on Bayern Munich at the Signal-Iduna Park.
“I am looking forward to the game against Bayern” the 26 year old said.
Zidan was never really given a chance last season in Hamburg by former trainer Huub Stevens, although he did score against the Bavarians when the two sides drew 1-1 back in September.
The talented African striker is now reunited with his former Mainz trainer Jürgen Klopp and can now look to the future. Klopp is also delighted to have his former protégée back with him, although he is not guaranteeing him a starting place.
“He’s not going to get a free ride, but I am 100% convinced of his ability” he said.
