Shevchenko set for retirement U-turn
The 36-year-old may lace his boots up once more following the news that an Indonesian Super League club are interested in his signature
AC Milan and Ukraine legend Andriy Shevchenko could be tempted out of retirement by an Indonesian Super League team, according to the club's coach. The 36-year-old called time on an illustrious playing career in June after Ukraine's exit from Euro 2012 last summer.
However, Mitra Kukar are reportedly keen on the former Ballon d'Or winner and boss Roni Fauzan has confirmed the club's interest.
"Obviously we are interested in Shevchenko," he told reporters.
"We are in negotiations, but we have to continue to talk about economics. We would like to sign him for 10 games.
"Regarding a salary – I'm sure we can find the money to bring him here."
Fauzan exclusively confirmed to Goal.com on Tuesday that any deal for the Ukraine legend was still a long way from completion, stating that they intend to visit the former Milan star in his home country.
"There is still a long way to go," he said. "We have to wait for the second half of ISL. We also haven't visited Sheva in Ukraine. I will inform you when we have some results."
Since retiring, the former Chelsea forward has pursued a career in politics and more recently had declined the opportunity to take charge of the Ukraine national team.
Mitra Kukar currently sit top of the Indonesian Super League.
