Al-Rayyan director Ali Salem Afifeh confirms Luis Fabiano signing
The Qatari side have reportedly signed the former Brazilian international on a one-year contract from Sao Paulo
Qatar Stars League (QSL) giants Al-Rayyan say they have pulled off a major summer coup, agreeing the signing of Luis Fabiano on a one-year deal from Brazilian side Sao Paulo.Speaking to Qatari website estad-aldoha.net, the club's football director Ali Salem Afifeh claimed that the deal was to be formalised in the next few days.
"The last (fourth) foreigner slot in Al-Rayyan will be filled in the next few days by the former Sevilla star Luis Fabiano, we have an accord," he revealed.
Fabiano, who had scored 28 goals in 43 international appearances, had signed a four-year contract with Sao Paulo after a switch from Sevilla last summer that was valued at over €7 million.
The former Porto forward will join compatriots Rodrigo Tabata and former Villarreal striker Nilmar, who recently joined the club on a lucrative four-year contract.
The Qatari club will be hoping for an instant impact from their Brazilian strikeforce as they look to build on last season's disappointing third place finish. Al-Rayyan begin their new campaign on September 15th.
