Lebanese defender Youssef Mohamad has been recognized by Goal.com readers as the Asian Player of the Month for June.

The 32-year-old central defender was one of the few bright spots for Lebanon in the fourth round of World Cup qualifying as the Cedars took just one point from the opening three matches.

Mohamad's strong defending drove the team on as the played without regular captain Roda Antar.

Mohammad won with over 26 per cent of the vote, narrowly beating Oman goalkeeper Ali Al-Habsi who received 25 per cent after recording a remarkable clean sheet against Australia in World Cup qualifying.

Prolific Sriwijaya attacker Mohammad Ridwan and Japan firebrand Keisuke Honda took the lion's share of the remaining votes, with 19 and 18 per cent respectively.

In receiving the honour from Goal.com's readers across the continent, Mohamad joins players such as two-time winner Shinji Kagawa, Philip Younghusband and Amad Al Hosni.
